COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT
COMMITTEE
of
HOBSON CITY, AL
What is the CECHC?
CECHC is a group of dedicated citizens and supporters of Hobson City. We are the "Community Enhancement Committee"
Our goal is to use our diverse backgrounds, experience and knowledge to help empower the people of Hobson City to improve the image of our town, build strong, safe neighborhoods, and provide a framework for community input. "We the citizens" decide what face the town shows to visitors, potential citizens, and business leaders, as well as to each other. It makes no difference what our city government and various committees do, if the citizens themselves don't pick up the flag and carry the dream forward. It is up to each of US to make a difference.
With citizens working together and supporting our city
government and city projects, while also creating and implementing community projects throughout the city, Hobson City can continue to grow and keep alive the dreams of the men who first worked together to make Hobson City the first black-incorporated city in Alabama and the second in the entire country.
We are part of a living history! It is up to us to show the world what a black-incorporated town is capable of becoming when backed by citizen power and supported by people who care.
What's
Next?
Help spread the word!!! On November 9th, the Harlem Legends (a group of former Harlem Globetrotters and other amazing athletes) will be at the Oxford Civic Center challenging a group of local players to an exciting, engaging, fun game of basketball. Come out and root for our team, the East AL All Stars, and enjoy the show!

A basketball clinic is being held for area kids. We are asking churches to sponsor local kids for the full event. If you'd like to sponsor a child, send us an email on the contact page and we will set it up.
There will also be a Meet & Greet with the Legends. Wouldn't you love to have a selfie made with one of the folks that are known around the world for their showmanship and their prowess with a basketball?

Hobson City's first governing body.
In a world that didn't believe that black men could run a city government, they gave everything they had to prove the world wrong.
